Sawadee kha, Sawadee khrap

Monday, April 6, 2020 and Tuesday, April 7, 2020

Home - Journeys - Thailand and Laos 2020 - Monday, April 6, 2020 and Tuesday, April 7, 2020

For now, this is the last night we slept with the family in Lat Krabang. We are going back to the Netherlands tonight.

We have a quiet breakfast and then take a shower just as quietly.
Then we pick out the clothes that need to be taken back to the Netherlands and Pia looks for all the food that needs to be brought, including mangoes.
In the course of the afternoon everything is packed, we are at the weight that KLM accepts for hold baggage. Hand luggage is different, we have too much, but we'll see. We can check in from half past six, and we want to drive to the airport around six o'clock.
In the course of the afternoon some family comes by, Luuk Naam, Pooh, Cha-Ee. Food is ordered from Krua Rabiengnaam, and that is eaten with taste.

At half past six we drive to the airport, we are taken away by Moue and Kaeng. Suvarnabhumi airport is incredibly quiet, there is no line of cars in front of the departure hall and only one of the nine or ten entrance doors is open.
We check in immediately, even here no line, while you would expect that many people want to return to Europe. Checking in is hassle-free, no hassle about too much luggage.
Checking the hand luggage and then immigration also goes so quickly, the people of immigration are even waiting until they can do something.
Furthermore, it is quite dead, almost all shops and restaurants are closed. We find a place near the gate where we need to be, the Bill Bentley Pub, and we drink some beer and wine.
Boarding is fast, and we leave with only 10 minutes delay. The plane is quite full, and the service is minimal due to the corona virus. We get a warm meal and a bag of food and drinks for the rest of the trip. There is still more to drink, but no alcohol.

The journey is calm, we sometimes sleep for a while. Over Pakistan and Afghanistan, there is quite a lot of turbulence, but we did not really bother. There also seems to be a lot of wind there, slightly obvious with turbulence.
With a delay of almost half an hour we are at Schiphol at ten to six. We can quickly go through passport control and the luggage also comes quickly.
The agreement with the taxi is not entirely clear, but we find each other. We are home at eight o'clock, tired but also happy
